About Us

The California Food and Justice Coalition (CFJC) is a state-wide membership coalition that promotes the basic human right to healthy, affordable food while advancing social, agricultural, environmental and economic justice. We achieve our goals through education, advocacy and by collaborating with community-based efforts in California.

CFJC is led by our grassroots member organizations. Our efforts focus on promoting the innovative solutions to the food crisis that our member groups have created in their communities. We feel that federal, state and local level policy should reflect and support these grassroots efforts that are effective and community-driven.

Since 2003, we have: trained thousands of individuals and organizations in advocacy and community organizing; educated policymakers and the public about the need to support local and sustainable food systems; and helped to secure increased government support for local food systems. All that we do is undertaken to support our vision of a food system in which all activities, from farm to table, are equitable, healthful, sustainable, regenerative, and community-driven.
